Sergio Hudson was born Daniel Sergio L. Hudson, Jr. to Daniel and Sheldon Hudson in Columbia, SC in the mid-1980’s. He knew at an early age he wanted to be a high fashion designer. Being influenced by his mother, who was a tailor and his sister, who was a very successful model, he no choice but to fall in love with fashion. By the age of 10, Sergio was designing gowns for his mother’s clients. The Auntie Karen Foundation was introduced to Sergio back in 2007. He immediately became a team member of The Auntie Karen Glam Squad, designing Auntie Karen’s outfit for the annual Legends of…Concert Series.
Sergio’s career shifted into overdrive when he was chosen as an alternate contestant on Bravo TV's “Styled to Rock”. The fashion based docu-series allowed him the opportunity to work with celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Kelly Osbourne and Pharell Williams, just to name a few. Hudson advanced through out the competition and became the winner, after his designs were chosen by singer, fashion icon and executive producer Rihanna.
In 2014, Hudson launched his namesake Ready-to-Wear collection, establishing an aesthetic defined by emaculate tailoring, infusions of androgyny, paired with overtly sexy silhouettes. His vision is to bring back the joy of dressing. He is doing just that, one collection at a time.
At the 2019 Essence Music Festival, First Lady Michelle Obama recently wore a belted royal blue sequin jumpsuit by Sergio. Obama's stylist Meredith Koop also reached out to Hudson to dress Michelle for the Atlanta stop of her Becoming book tour. In the past, he's dressed Beyoncé, Amal Clooney, J.Lo, Janelle Monae, Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Serena Williams.
